The Hot and Energetic Universe

High-energy astrophysics plays a key role in understanding the Universe. The most energetic radiation reveals hot and violent phenomena. We examine hot gas in galactic clusters, which are the biggest and most massive objects in space. We will also examine hot gas collected in discs around supermassive black at the center of galaxies.

But high-energy astrophysics also gives us important information about our own galaxy the Milky Way, neutron stars, supernovae, and stars like out own Sun, which emit a lot of high-energy radiation. Europe holds a leading role in the research about high-energy astrophysics.
